Cleaning a Manual or Standard Clean Oven
We don't recommend using commercial oven cleaners; however, if you choose to use one:
- Choose a commercial cleaner made for use in standard clean ovens and follow product label instructions.
- Apply cleaner. The use of rubber gloves is recommended, unless you have an allergy to latex or rubber.
- Wipe or rub lightly on stubborn stains. The area around the broil element requires a little more time to clean.
- Rinse well.
- Be sure to wipe off any oven cleaner that gets on the thermostat bulb. (Bulb looks like a small diameter bare copper wire inside the oven on the back or side wall, near the top of the oven.
- Before cleaning a standard oven range, the job can be made easier by using household ammonia. Place 1/2 cup in a shallow glass or pottery container in a cold oven overnight. The ammonia fumes will help loosen the burned-on grease and food. Do not turn oven on while ammonia is inside.
